Forward Elton Brand has signed with the Philadelphia 76ers with a five year deal worth about $80 million. Brand opted out of his contract with the Los Angeles Clippers. It was widely reported that Brand would resign with the Clippers. He said that he was giving the Clippers financial flexibility to go out and get other free agents. But to many people, Brand spurned the Clippers to go after more money. Brand now gives the 76ers a much needed scoring option at the four position. Rookie Thaddeus Young saw a lot of time at the power forward position and his scoring is questionable. Brand, along with Andre Miller and possibly Andre Iguodala, can be a much improved scoring team and a threat in the Eastern Conference. Iguodala is a free agent also and is currently exploring his options. Brand missed the entire 2007-2008 season because of a torn Achilles tendon. Will this move propel the 76ers to the Eastern Conference championship? Will Brand have an injury-free season?
